From the successful World Press Tour for the Pacquaio-Marquez fight, Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao is back in the Philippines. He was promoting his upcoming fight in the United States to Marquez.

Rep. Pacquiao was immediately bombarded by the media about his plans in running as Vice- President for 2016 elections. “Huwag na muna nating pag-usapan ‘yan. Boxing lang muna tayo, boxing lang,” he said.

In General Santos City, he was asked again about the said plans if he’s willing to run as VP. This time Pacquiao answered and denied that he doesn’t have plans to run for the second highest position. And he added that his age is one of the factors that he can’t run. “Wala pa, hindi pa naman tayo qualified tumakbo ng vice president e. Kung may batas na ma-amend, titignan natin,” he said.

According to the 1987 Philippine Constitution, the candidate for a vice- president position must be atleast 40 years old. In 2016 elections, Pacquaio will only be 37 years old which makes him unqualified. Though it was reported earlier that Pacquiao considered running for other position like as a Governor of Sarangani in 2013 or a senator.

For now his concentration is as a boxer. His fight will be on November 12 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
