Philippine Azkals will battle it out against one of the most popular football club from the United States the L.A. Galaxy which was being manned by two of the greatest football player in the world today. David Beckham, the former Manchester United star player and England’s team skipper will be joined by the current team captain of the US Soccer Team Landon Donovan.
The LA Galaxy which played for the Major League Baseball in the United States will visit the Philippines on a friendly match this coming December 3 to be held at the home court of the Philippine Azkals the Rizal Memorial Stadium. The game will be a significant one for the Philippine football fans and enthusiasts. The last time the Philippines had hosted a similar event was way back in 1970’s during a visit one of the Brazilian team to the country.
The scheduled friendly game of the Philippine Azkals versus the LA Galaxy had been announced in a press conference by LA Galaxy President Thomas Payne and event promoter Jinx Macabenta. Present during the announcement at the Makati Shangrila Hotel were Philippine Football President Nonong Araneta and Philippine Azkals Team Manager Dan Palami.
The LA Galaxy was composed also of other notable international players such as Ireland international striker Robbie Keane and Brazilian midfielder Juninho. They will battle it out against the Philippine Azkals pride, Younghusband brothers, Caligdong and the European based players.
The Philippine Azkals were now needing the service of its reliable European based players if they want to pair evenly with the visiting Major League superstars. The game will also boosts the confidence of the National Football Team which is preparing for the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup to be held in Nepal.
Philippine Azkals Team manager Dan Palami was quoted as saying “It’s an early Christmas bonus to have a chance to play a team with the profile of LA Galaxy,” said Palami. “It’s a great opportunity for the Azkals and Philippine football in general as it is in its growing stage. We will take blessings as they come.” Palami said.
Tickets for the Philippine Azkals vs. Los Angeles Galaxy match will be released on the early part of November.
