Lea Salonga to judge for Miss Universe 2011

Lea SalongaMANILA, Philippines – As September 13 (in the Philippines) unfold to be the most beautiful day in the Universe, Filipinos across the globe had plenty of reasons that it would not only be the most beautiful day but also a day to celebrate as two Filipinos are to join in the rooster of the best in the world for the Miss Universe 2011 pageant to be held in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Counting the days before that day, Philippines bet for the pageant, Shamcey Supsup had been creating early buzz as she continues to lead on the various independent online polls,may it be on Missosology.com, Telemundo and even on the top 15 of Global Beauties,  another news was revealed and that was Tony Award winning singer and actress Lea Salonga was chosen to be one of the judges for the Miss Universe 2011 Pageant.

She is one of the seven official judges who would be tasked to chose the next Miss Universe. Other judges were  Adrienne Maloof who was best known from the hit series “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega, popular broadcast legend Connie Chung, racer Helios Castroneves, supermodel Isabeli Fontana and actress/television producer Vivica Fox. This year’s pageant marked the 60th year of this prestigious gathering of beauties representing nations around the world.

Miss Universe pageant is one of the highly-respected and prestigious gatherings of the best and brightest beauties.

In its 60th year, Miss Universe Organization and organizer had created a new plus in the contest by providing an online voting system wherein the candidate to garner the highest vote on the Official poll conducted by Miss Universe website will automatically earn a spot for the semifinals of the said competition.

To recall, before the rise of boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao and Charice and other Filipino talent in the international scene, Lea Salonga had been already creating buzz abroad. Her performances and achievements were brilliant and amazing.

Lea had received the Tony Award way back 1991 for her lead role in the Broadway performance of Miss Saigon. Furthermore, in 2010, to give just few of her noble achievements, she was also chosen to be the appointed Goodwill Amb(–foul word(s) removed–)ador of the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization.
